Hello to OSHC family and friends

 We're going to try a Fall book read:   Holy Envy:  Finding God in the Faith of Others by Barbara Brown Taylor.  She is an Episcopal priest turned religion professor at a small Southern college.   This is a memoir of her teaching years. "...Taylor brought her students to  mosques, synagogues, and Buddhist and Hindu temples.  [She] writes about how teaching the different religions changed her students' understanding of faith - as well as her own...." *     We have read a couple of other books by her in the last 5 or so years.  An Altar in the World was a popular one.  I'm on page 35 of this one and find her style warm and  engaging and easy to read.  I hope you will too.

 The book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble but Jeanne found it on  Daedalus - a discounted website-  for $8!  That's half price.   We ordered six and five have "sold" - if you would like one please let me know (darcycorralstevens@gmail.com or 631-398-0875) in the next day or two.  I will put in another order as needed.  The plan is to meet on Sundays after church and a short coffee hour - outside or well spaced in the sanctuary - and to discuss a few chapters each week.  For those who cannot attend in person, we will try to use the enhanced hot spot and see if we can get a separate zoom or phone call to transmit.  We'll start on October 3 to give everyone time to get the book and to get started on it.
