Grey-Owens is a Board Member of the Empire State Pride Agenda; the New York State LGBT Advocacy Organization; Chair of the GLBT Democrats of Long Island; and a member of the Suffolk County Democratic Party Executive  Committee.

In announcing this program The Rev. Thomas J. Philipp, Pastor of the Church,, said, ”There has been much progress made in society and in the Church to welcome Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual persons into acceptance and participation in the life of our institutions. The same cannot be said for Transgender individuals. Our Session offers this program  as an educational event to better understand those whose identity or behavior falls outside stereotypical gender expectations.”
The program will include examples of discrimination and also discuss pending legislation known as GENDA (Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act) presently before the New York State Legislature.
There will be a time of fellowship and refreshment following the presentation. All are welcome.

[news] This_Week_At_Old_South_Haven_Presbyterian_Church

This Week At Old South Haven Presbyterian Church

An observation: Last Sunday we had eight visitors. Most of them present for the first time. I have found it interesting that visitors are often present on those Sundays when many of our own members are absent! In fact, because visitors usually come well before the service begins and our regulars come at the very last minute (or later!) I would imagine visitors wonder if they are going to be the only ones present. I make this comment only as an observation
