Hello to all Holy Envy readers:

After church on Sunday we will discuss the first three chapters of Holy Envy by Barbara Brown Taylor.  We'll start after a bit of visiting and a cup of coffee, and discuss outside if the weather holds.  If it does not, we'll space ourselves throughout the sanctuary and wear masks.

If you've missed the info about the book, it is this Fall's OSHC book read, and the plan is to discuss a few chapters each week after church on Sundays.  It is, of course, available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble, both electronically and in actual book form.  But it is also available in hardback at Daedalus books for $8, which is a great price.  I've distributed the first batch but if there is further interest I can order some more.  If you haven't had a chance to think about it or haven't started it yet, join us on Sunday and see what you think.   I've been busy (new grandbaby -  Christopher Alan Corral!). and haven't quite finished the 3rd chapter, but this is what I think:  thought-provoking, easy reading, lovely style, spiritually enriching.  I hope you'll join us.

Peace & Global Witness Sunday: also see flyer attachment

This coming Sunday was called Peacemaking Sunday until 2016. (It was also, and still is, World Communion Sunday.) Now it is called "Peace & Global Witness Sunday." It is when the Peace & Global Witness special offering is received.

        The Peace & GW offering is one of two special offerings for which part of the offering remains with the local congregation.

        At Old South Haven, the amount remaining with the congregation, 25%, has been used for an award to the winner of the (usually) annual Peacemaking Essay contest. As there were no Peacemaking Essay contests in 2020 or 2021, there will be more than the usual amount available for the award (or awards) next Spring after the Peace & GW offering is received this year.
