[news] This Week At Old South Haven Presbyterian Church

This Week At Old South Haven Presbyterian Church

I trust everyone has come through the hurricane save and sound. I have heard that some of our members lost power (and are still without power as I compose this on Tuesday morning). There was no damage to the church buildings and only a couple of trees and several branches down at the manse.

Sat. Oct. 27              9:30am             Presbytery Meeting: Melville

The Presbytery of Long Island praises the Lord and remembers the gift of the Rev. William T. P.  Rambo who joined the Church Triumphant on October 10, 2012.

Virtually no other Presbytery has ever been privileged to be served so long, so effectively and so completely than Long Island was served by the Rev. William T. P. Rambo; he was a fixture here, celebrating 100 years of life and 75 years as an ordained Presbyterian Minister this year.  These are two amazing milestones.  But, they were simply the latest notations of a life lived so completely, so faithfully, and so richly.   Bill founded two of the Presbytery’s congregations (Bellmore and Deer Park) and led the Presbytery from its inception until 1977.

The tone and reach of the Presbytery of Long Island are a tribute to Bill’s vision and insight.  We were blessed to have had him such an active part of the Presbytery for what is a normal lifetime for most of our pastors…yet Bill continued to actively serve the Presbytery and its churches until well into his nineties.

For a very long time, we will remember our Bill Rambo, Mr. Princeton, and Mr. Presbyterian.  We cannot imagine a finer embodiment of our faith.
