We are happy to announce the winner of this year's Peacemaking Essay Contest. Byron Suarez is a sophomore. at Bellport High School. He recently won the Silver Medal and Maxima cum Laude certificate in the National Latin 2012 Exam. Nancy Best will present Byron to the Congregation to read his essay and to grant him the cash award.

Thursday, June 14 6:30pm Thursday's Child "Spring Champagne Gala" Flowerfield Celebrations, 199Mills Road, St. James. John Deitz is one of this year's honorees. Thursday's Child has been one of the local missions to which we have given financial support. It is now in its 23rd year of service to the community. Its mission is to "develop, coordinate, and to provide servoices to people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
Last Saturday, Claudia Taylor, Shirley Mackay, Richard Thomas, Kappy Tilney, and Pastor Tom put in a few hours to weed, plant, and clean up the AIDS Memorial Garden located in front of the church. This garden was created in cooperation with Thursday's Child.
Sunday, June 17 10:00am Morning Worship
Pastor Tom celebrates the 50th year of his ordination (ordained June 17, 1962 by the Presbyetry of St. Paul -now Twin Cities- at Randolph Heights Presbyterian Church). Daryl Jordan will be with us and will sing "Eternal Life" (The Prayer of St. Francis: "Lord, Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace") which was sung at that ordination service. The choir will sing "Wings of the Dawn" at Pastor Tom's request. His niece Rachel Vione will ask the ordination questions of her Uncle.

Sunday, June 24 - Friday, June 29 Pastor Tom leaves after the Morning Worship service to attend the 2012 Global Conference of Chaplains in Higher Education at Yale University. The theme is "Mosaics in Motion: Spiritual Leadership in a Multifaith World". Attendees are 400 chaplains and campus ministers from around the world
