Report from Presbyterian News Service
Presbyterian Haiti relief contributions now top $9.5 million dollars through the Presbytyerian Disaster Fund. The money has been used for 15 food and water distribution sites, thousands of temporary shelters, and more than 35,000 hygiene and baby kits. PDA continues to work with its ecumenical and international partners. "We're trying to listen carefully to our Haitan partners," said the Rev. Joe Brown, director of Mission Interpretation, "they must be the ones to shape the recovery efforts."

Looking Ahead
On action of the Session, Old South Haven has elected to participate in "One Book+One Parish+One Summer 2010." This is a grassroots movement in which members of congregations elect to read a book, selected by organizers, during the summer and then have opportunity to discuss the book with others in the congregation at the close of the summer. The book selected for this summer is "Forgiving Ararat" by Gita Nazareth. Session is ordering ten copies of the book (more will be order if needed) and you will have opportunity to purchase a copy at a reasonable price (ca.$10.) Some discussion questions have been prepared. So far more than 120 churches in 30 states representing at least 9 different Christian denominations are participating. Further information will be coming to you later.
