CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the
fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
PEOPLE: And also with you.
Leader: Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the
things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit
set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
PEOPLE: To set the mind on the flesh results in death, but to set
the mind on the Spirit results in life and peace.
Leader: Those who are led by God's Spirit are God's children, the
spirit dwells in them and gives life to their mortal bodies.
PEOPLE: The Spirit that God gives does not make us slaves or
cause us to fear.
Leader: The Spirit allows us to call out to God, "Abba, Father". in
the knowledge that we are heirs with Christ to all his blessings.
UNISON: All this is the gift of God's love to us. Blessed be his name,
now and forevermore.
* HYMN OF PRAISE #341 "Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine"
WELCOME
CALL TO CONFESSION
Leader: Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God.
PRAYER OF INTERCESSION AND CONFESSION
Eternal God, whose covenant with us is never broken, we confess that we fail to fulfill your will. Though you have bound yourself to us, we will not bind ourselves to you. In Jesus Christ you serve us freely, but we refuse your love and withhold ourselves from others. We do not love you fully or love one another as you command. In your mercy, forgive and cleanse us. Give us strength to serve you faithfully until the promised day of resurrection, when, with the redeemed of all the ages, we will feast with you at your table in glory. This we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
MOMENT OF SILENT CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for
us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for
us. Believe the good news of the Gospel:
PEOPLE: We thank you O Lord that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven! We
pray for strength to forgive one another. Amen.
* GLORIA PATRI #579
PASSING OF THE PEACE
Leader: Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one
body you were called to peace. The peace of Christ be with you.
PEOPLE: And also with you. Amen.
(Because of health concerns, it is suggested that we refrain from
shaking hands during the Passing of the Peace)
CHILDREN'S SERMON
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

as the Scriptures are read and Your Word is proclaimed, we may hear
with joy what You say to us today. Amen.
FIRST LESSON Hebrew Testament: Psalm 130
Leader: This is the Word of our Lord.
PEOPLE: THANKS BE TO GOD. AMEN.
* HYMN # 276 "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"
SECOND LESSON Gospel: John 11:1-45
Leader: This is the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

SERMON "The Raising of Lazarus" Rev. Ralph Wright
* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH "A Creed" United Church of Canada
We are not alone, we live in God's world.
We believe in God: who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church,
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our Judge and our Hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not
alone. Thanks be to God. Amen
