Sermon: “Water As A Human Right”

John 4: 7-15 Revelation 22;1-5
From beginning to end – Genesis to Revelation – water flows through the story of salvation. God’s Spirit breathes upon the waters of creation (Genesis 1). God’s invitation to abundant life is like a freely flowing fountain.(John 4) God’s eternal realm is like a river that flows from the heavenly throne, bringing healing to all nations.(Rev.22) What is the significance of water for life, or the lack of it?
What political and economic implications if water is a human right?

The June issue of Presbyterians Today has as its focus the matter of rethinking our relationship with water. It features stories of several congregations where caring for their communities means caring for the water supply. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has helped to bring water back to places like Kenya and Malawi as well as addressing problems right here in the US. See Presbyterians Today at http://www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/today/

Thank you to Kappy, Debbie and Diane for providing refreshments for last Sunday’s afternoon meeting discussing “Welcoming the Transgender Individual.” There was a good turn out and attendees felt it was a good informational meeting
Soon we hope to announce one or more music programs featuring professional vocalists and instrumentalists that Old South Haven will offer in our sanctuary for ourselves and the larger community.
Since recently several new people have been welcomed to the “News” mailing list, your “Reporter” reminds all that the Old South Haven Presbyterian Church has a web page at http://OldSouthHavenChurch.org . On this site we maintain several sections, including; an extensive audio file of Pastor Tom Philipp’s sermons (see “Audio Library”), a “News Blog” containing copies of this email and occasionally other items, a “Photo Gallery” of recent events and people, the church “Calendar” (maintained by Jason Neal), copies of our “Newsletters” (editor Linda Scott), and other features.
